Hi Barbie!
It's been EVERYWHERE. There's no avoiding it. Whether you like it or not, Barbie Mania has taken over. The new film has completely swamped our socials and you know we've been eating up every bit of info we can get. So of course, it was only inevitable that this Barbiecore style would creep into our newest collection here at ROR. So come behind the scenes and find out how we created our Summer clothing range - inspired by the blockbuster of the year.
First things first, it's time for a brainstorm. Write down everything and anything that reminds us remotely of Barbie - the film and the doll. This includes: pink (lots of), Malibu dream house, ✨ those ✨ rollerskating pics of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, Disco, hearts, palm trees, heels and a million other things. 🌴
Then Holly gets out her Big Red book and starts doodling! This is where the slogans and ideas really start to come together. We instantly knew that we wanted to play on the 'Barbie Land' name but make it totally personal to you. 💕 Because who isn't living in their own little world?
Then those ideas get passed over to Harley, one of our studio assistants. She gets to tweaking and designing the ideas to fit onto our tops and bags. Then she starts testing the embroidery options. Some designs end up too detailed or small for our embroidery machines sometimes - but our latest addition 'Big Bertha' is coping much better 😂
We also received some brand new t-shirt and accessory samples especially for this Barbie Inspired Clothing Collection. We finally found the perfect baby tees and summer vests for printing and embroidering on that we know you will love!
This is the exciting part. When everything starts to come together 😍 We've got the final designs we're looking for and the products they're going on and the range is starting to really take shape. There's just the final round of post-it notes to combat 😂 These hot pink sticky notes have all the final changes to make each item perfect 👌Because we wouldn't settle for anything less!
Now it's getting close to our deadline. We want this to go live the same weekend as the Barbenheimer release date so we've got to get going! It's time for a Malibu Barbie Photoshoot - complete with inflatable flamingo and metallic cowboy boots obviously 💁♀️ This shoot was so much fun because it was all bright colours, pink and roller-skates. And then the range went live in all it's fun, neon pink glory! We had so much fun creating the collection and love seeing your orders come through for something we've worked so hard on. 🥰 Thank you for all your support of our small business!
