Get Social! (Online)
This is likely the biggest way you can celebrate pride right now. While the likes of people such as Kaitlin Bennett view the BLM protests as inadvertently cancelling Pride, it is in fact very much the opposite. Pride month was started because of the stonewall riots. This years protests haven't cancelled pride, we're just revisiting history and coming together stronger than ever. Just remember to stay safe while fighting oppression!
Zoom Party Anyone?!
Additionally, many pride celebrations have decided to move online. Global Pride 2020 will be live streaming a whole load of content to celebrate Pride for 24 hours on the 27th of June. They have already announced a huge number of entertainers, singers, politicians and more that will be participating in the event over on their Facebook page! A lot of other local Pride celebrations have also moved their content online. Liverpool Pride Foundation are creating an online pride march. There's also a virtual march over on Pink News' Pride for all. NYC Pride has also released a lot of online content. There is also a great online gallery showcasing the history of Pride month here. There s also so much more too! There's definitely enough online to see you through the rest of pride month!
Fundraise:
Fundraising and donating is also a great way to celebrate as it brings us together to help those in need. Some great charities to help raise money for include The LGBTQ Foundation, All Out, Manchester Pride, Kaleidoscope Trust and so many more! In keeping with this, we make sure to donate a percentage of all our Pride collection proceeds to the LGBT Foundation. So you can show off your support to those around you while also knowing that your money is going to a good cause! We've got a whole range of sassy slogan tees to show off your Pride this June and every other month of the year - click here to see the collection.
Watch, Read, Learn.
There is also a huge range of LGBTQ entertainment out there. Some great series include Rupaul's Drag Race (but that one's obvious right), Orange is the New Black, Everything Sucks, Queer Eye (a feel good favourite of mine) and Pose. If you're looking for some literature instead, we just so happen to sell the amazing Dom&Ink's Free To Be Me book.
And don't forget, you can always fly a pride flag to show your support. I'm sure the bright flag will add a bit of colour and happiness to any space. Big or small, it'll have a bold impact.
What are you doing to celebrate pride?
