Ooo Arrr! The first official trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides has just been released... and it looks like it could be the best yet!
Johnny Depp returns as the brilliantly crazy Captain Jack Sparrow, but the action-packed trailer also introduces fans to a new-comer... Penelope Cruz who plays the swashbuckling Angelica! It will be interesting to see how this film does without the other two stars of the show, wimpy Will (Orlando Bloom) and the super posh Elizabeth (Keira Knightley).The latest film looks like it will be jam-packed with mermaids, zombies, Pirates and yet another star guest appearance by Keith Richards as Jack Sparrow´s father. But even with all of that going on, there still seems to be time for a bit of romance.... Shiver me timbers!
The film follows Captain Jack on his mission to find the elusive fountain of youth, which (coincidentally) Blackbeard and his daughter are also seeking.
The lovely Johnny Depp recently revealed in an interview that his portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow initially caused Disney some concern...
´They couldn´t stand him. They just couldn´t stand him,´ he told Vanity Fair magazine. ´I think it was Michael Eisner, the head of Disney at the time, who was quoted as saying, "He´s ruining the movie."
Continuing with his interview, Mr Depp revealed that he rather enjoyed playing up to this at Disney´s expense... ´Upper-echelon Disney-ites, going, What´s wrong with him? Is he, you know, like some kind of weird simpleton? Is he drunk? By the way, is he gay?... And so I actually told this woman who was the Disney-ite? "But didn´t you know that all my characters are gay?" Which really made her nervous.´
If you´re a Johnny Depp fan, then keep an eye out for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides coming to the UK next year... The film is directed by Rob Marshall and will be released in the U.S. on May 20, 2011. Check it out me hearties!
